Spindle Whorls

Finds From Wirral – Spindle Whorls
Above we have four decorated spindle whorls. Whorls are common finds but the decorated ones less so. All are dated to
AD 1200-1500.
Whorls were used as weights on the end of a stick which was spun and used to twist thread.
These bottom right whorl is particularly well decorated with different symbols including flowers, heart and a W.
