Long CrossPenny

Finds Form Wirral – Long Cross Penny

A long cross silver penny of Edward I. (1272-1307). Because of the detail on this coin it can be determined that it was minted at the Canterbury mint between May and December 1279.
On the reverse of the coin you can make out the end of “CIVITAS” and on the lower part you can see “CAN” indicating the Canterbury mint.
