Pytheas

It will likely never be known as to who the first explorers or traders from the eastern Mediterranean Sea to visit the British Isles were.

There is some tentative evidence that the Phoenicians sailed to what is now Cornwall to trade for tin as early as 1500 BC and it is likely that Mycenean Greeks had opened up trade links with the native Britons too.
