Annular Brooch

Finds from Wirral – Annular Brooch

This is a section of just less than a quarter of a copper alloy flat annular brooch dated to AD 410-570. The two lines at the right is where the pin would have sat and you can see traces of a basic zig zag decoration.
This like the previous piece is unusual from Wirral and most recovered are from Anglian territories. It is classed as of County/Local Importance.

This photo shows the piece above and a second piece of what has been verified as most probably a second piece of the same brooch. The second piece was recovered in the same field some 50 metres from the first piece. The second piece is not as well preserved but you can see traces of the zig zag patterning.
